    Why Is the HttpWatch Toolbar button Hidden in IE?

    In IE versions 7 - 8 the standard Command bar in IE is usually too narrow to display the HttpWatch button - requiring a click on the toolbar chevron:

     

    It is possible to alter the order of the buttons on the IE toolbar so that the HttpWatch button is always visible by following these steps:

     

    1. Go to Tools->Toolbars->Customize...

    2. Find the HttpWatch button entry and move it up several places:

    3. The HttpWatch button should now be visible on the main IE toolbar:

    The minimalist user interface in IE 9 no longer has the Command bar displayed by default so only the standard Home, Favorites and Tools buttons are displayed. The HttpWatch toolbar button can be added to the IE 9 command bar but you would first need to make the Command bar visible:

     

    Then use the 'Add or remove commands...' menu item:

     

    To open the Customize toolbar window. Find the HttpWatch button in the left hand list and enable it by adding it to the right hand list:


    The HttpWatch button will then be available for use on the Command bar:
